About Karine Boulanger

Karie Boulanger Artist

Karine Boulanger is an internationally acclaimed French-Bolivian artist whose work reflects a masterful interplay of light, texture, and emotion. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, to a French father and a Bolivian mother, she spent her formative years in Paris, immersed in art. Her father owned a prominent art gallery; her mother, Graciela Rodo Boulanger, is a celebrated Bolivian painter. These early influences laid the foundation for Karine’s passion for art and understanding its power to connect people across cultures.

Karine Boulanger began her artistic studies in Bolivia under the mentorship of Gonzalo Rodriguez, where she explored the rich artistic traditions of Latin America. She later returned to Paris to study at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, where she refined her techniques under the guidance of Leonardo Cremonini. These diverse experiences have shaped her ability to create art that blends Baroque and Byzantine art traditions with contemporary themes and innovative techniques.

Her work uses gold and silver leaf, which she layers with oil paint to create luminous, textured compositions that evoke a sense of spirituality and wonder. Drawing inspiration from nature, her pieces often feature recurring motifs such as sunflowers, animals, and abstracted landscapes, inviting viewers to reflect on the beauty and interconnectedness of life.

Karine’s career has spanned multiple continents, exhibiting her works in France, Bolivia, and the United States. Her paintings are in prestigious collections, such as the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) in Long Beach, California, and the Fondation Colas in France.

About the Exhibition: Landscapes Reimagined

Karine Boulanger’s contribution to the exhibition stands out for her ability to infuse traditional landscape themes with an otherworldly sense of light and texture. Her use of gold and silver leaf elevates her paintings to a radiance that captures the landscapes’ physical and emotional essence. Her pieces explore the interplay of imagination, memory, and the natural environment, creating grounded and transcendent works.

From abstract interpretations to deeply emotional renderings, the exhibition invites viewers to expand their understanding of what a landscape can represent.
