These photographic pieces belong to a series of works called “Luminographies”, where Lorenza Panero creates unique photographic pieces through the direct exposure of objects on the surface of special photographic paper like Cibachrome and/or Ilfochrome due to their numerous emulsion layers. Panero creates the layered transparencies by allowing different exposure times for each object on the paper’s surface. This is a laborious process for these are created in a dark room, and the result is not known until the process is over. A limited amount of these works remains given that both the Cibachrome and Ilfochrome papers have been discontinued.
