El Eden de Los Colibries

Alberto Pancorbo’s work is known for its cryptic messages hidden in the intermingling of objects that, at first glance, appear unrelated to one another. “El Jardin de los Colibries” is composed of a foreground and a background that blend to create a seamless transition between both pictorial planes. The background shows a barren place, with high rock formations that evoke solitude; on the other hand, the foreground is thriving with the birth of hummingbirds that have just hatched out of their eggs. This last element, the hatched eggs, is used by Pancorbo to convey the idea of hope, and in this particular work, hope is thriving in spite of the looming solitude in the background.
